Away on a short trip to Malacca / Melaka!
Kinda last minute decision to go with my sis to look for her friend, Grace.
Day 1
Woke up early at around 6 plus, to get ourselves ready, and also to arrive at Beach Road at 8am, to board the bus at around 8.30am. Had roti prata for breakfast over there, which is kinda cheap and tasty.
Waited for the bus and was talking to my sis about the bus driver being a cleaniness freak and a stingy guy, as he wrapped all carpets up with newspaper!
Board the bus, and guess wad?! the man sitting in front of us just now, is the bus driver! luckily we were speaking in Chinese and he is an Indian man. if not, i think we will get chased of the bus!
There were only 6 people in the bus though. bus ride is fairly good, and we reached Melaka at around 12.30pm, and met Grace over at the interchange.
Went to her house to settle our luggage, and went to had Ball Ball Chicken Rice for lunch. Apparently, this chicken rice is kinda famous in Melaka, but it is rather difficult to find in Singapore. i feel that is quite nice, but it could be better if its served piping hot, and with soup, jus like Singapore's chicken rice. Planned out our itinerary for the 3 days of our stay over there. wanted to head to this Hair Styling Academy for a cheap hair wash, but to our dismay, they are closed on Monday.
Head off to Makota, a rather well known shopping centre in Melaka, which i've been there before when i was in Primary School, as i recognised one of the shop selling customised keychains, which i remember i bought some last time. Didnt get any over there though, as i see none of my liking.
Sis went to develop her pictures, and also get her hair done at Meglio. Hair cut plus highlighting amounts to RM178, convert to SGD is actually quite cheap, considering that theres a change in hairstyle, and its some of those rather high-end salon. Did some shopping with Grace while waiting for sis. bought a hoodie and long sleeve shirt from F.O.S( factory outlet store). you know what?! for both of such items, its only RM47, which is only SGD20 !!!! i feel that its really a great buy!
Sis hair was done, and we head over to another new shopping mall opposite Makota, which i apparently forgot the name, and had drinks at Old Town Coffee if i'm not wrong with the name. Drinks there are nice! Then, we head over to Jonker Street, which surprisingly theres Jonker Walk available on that very day! its some sort of a pasar malam, which i think its only available during fri, sat and sun. We parked the car near this hotel called The Baba House, which is a Baba and Nyonya house transformed into a hotel. Jonker Walk has got nice stuffs, but they are mostly "push carts" from the shops which are opened in the morning. Bought a pair of sunglasses, and was thinking of getting a canvas shoulder bag, but decided not to.
Had dinner at this food court, which is kinda similar to our Kopitiam kind. though it is abit dirty, but overall it is still acceptable. the food there is cheap, as they're priced jus like our usual kopitiam food, but its in RM, portion are smaller though, but still acceptable. i had claypot rice for RM3.80, and the portion is the same as a single sized claypot rice in SG.
Home Sweet Home - Grace's home of course.
F.Y.I: Please try to avoid heading over to Melaka during such time, like erm.. on the last or a week after Chinese New Year. ALMOST ALL SHOPS THAT WE PLANNED TO GO ARE CLOSED!!! ARGH.
PS: sorry for the plain and boring post. Melaka is rather exciting for me, and too busy to take much pics.
